September isn’t just about the “ember months” sneaking in, it’s about cinemas heating up. From haunted houses that refuse to stay quiet, to DiCaprio leading a revolution, to Scarlett Johansson tugging heartstrings in ways you didn’t expect, this month’s movie lineup is a cinematic buffet. Horror, action, drama, romance, and even a sprinkle of anime chaos, September 2025 has it all. So, grab your popcorn, because this month’s premieres promise goosebumps, belly laughs, and maybe a few tears.

The Conjuring: Last Rites – September 5

The Warrens are back for one last dance with the devil. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren in what’s being billed as the grand finale of the franchise. This time, the real-life 1986 Smurl haunting takes center stage, bringing with it a storm of creepy visuals, sinister spirits, and (of course) the occasional Annabelle cameo. If you thought you were safe after the lights come back on, think again.

The Cut – September 5

Think “Rocky” but darker, sweatier, and way less inspirational posters. A retired boxer dives headfirst into a brutal, unsanctioned weight-cutting program in a last-ditch shot at glory. With a coach who pushes limits like there’s no tomorrow, the film punches its way into September with grit, blood, and the question: how far will you go to claim the crown?

Tin Soldier – September 12

Jamie Foxx as a self-styled prophet? Clint Eastwood’s son as his estranged disciple? Robert De Niro as the military man trying to clean up the mess? Say less. Foxx leads a militia of war veterans into a fortress of guns, loyalty, and paranoia. Cue the government drafting in Nash Cavanaugh (Scott Eastwood) to infiltrate and confront his past. Explosions, vendettas, and a whole lot of emotional baggage, it’s a testosterone-fueled powder keg.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – September 19

Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell take us on the kind of trip you can’t book on Expedia. Two strangers cross paths and set off on a whirlwind journey that’s as visually stunning as it is emotionally stirring. Expect romance, heartbreak, and a sprinkle of magical realism. A film that asks: what happens when destiny takes the wheel and you’re just along for the ride?

One Battle After Another – September 26

Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t just fight bears (looking at you, The Revenant), he also leads ex-revolutionaries back into the fray. Sixteen years after their last war, an old enemy rears its head, forcing the crew to reunite for one more mission, this time, to save a comrade’s daughter. Packed with high-stakes action and a director’s flair for tension, this is DiCaprio in full battle mode.

Eleanor the Great – September 26

Scarlett Johansson trades superheroes for soul-stirring storytelling. In this heartfelt drama, a 90-year-old Floridian woman forges an unlikely bond with a 19-year-old New Yorker. Age and geography melt away in this cross-generational tale of friendship, resilience, and the kind of love that doesn’t need romance to feel monumental. Bring tissues. Lots of them.

Ruth & Boaz – September 26

Tyler Perry heads to Tennessee with a story soaked in heart and Southern charm. A young woman flees the Atlanta music scene only to find herself caring for a widowed elder. Along the way, she discovers the love she’s been searching for, and a maternal bond she never had. Expect laughter, tears, and Perry’s signature ability to wrap life lessons in cinematic drama.

BFFs – September 26

Terrence Howard headlines this darkly comic drama about friendship gone too far. Jerry wants to reconnect with his childhood pal Henry, but their escalating practical jokes threaten to unravel Henry’s entire life, with deadly consequences. A twisted take on nostalgia, this one asks: how well do you really know your oldest friends?

Affinity – September 30

Closing the month with a bang (and a few roundhouse kicks), Affinity stars Chilean martial-arts powerhouse Marko Zaror as Bruno, an ex-SEAL tormented by PTSD. When he meets a mysterious woman with no past, it seems like redemption is within reach, until she vanishes. Cue conspiracy, combat, and Zaror reminding Hollywood why action films still belong to the bruisers.

September 2025 isn’t playing games, it’s playing every genre. You’ve got horror chills (The Conjuring), gritty sports drama (The Cut), military action (Tin Soldier), romantic odyssey (A Big Bold Beautiful Journey), historical grit (One Battle After Another), tear-jerkers (Eleanor the Great), soulful Southern stories (Ruth & Boaz), dark humor (BFFs), and adrenaline-fueled martial arts (Affinity).
