Disney Strikes New Agreement with YouTube TV, Bringing ESPN and ABC Back After Two-Week Blackout

Disney’s TV channels, including ESPN and ABC, are officially returning to YouTube TV after a two-week blackout that left millions of subscribers without access to some of the most-watched networks in the U.S. The restoration comes after Disney and YouTube finalized a new carriage deal, ending the standoff and restoring normal service.
In a joint statement, Disney Entertainment leaders Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, alongside ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, emphasized that the renewed agreement reflects their focus on meeting viewers where they are. They noted that the deal reinforces the value of Disney’s content while giving YouTube TV users more viewing flexibility and choice.
The timing couldn’t be better for subscribers, with the networks returning just ahead of a packed weekend of programming, including major college football matchups. The resolution signals both companies’ commitment to maintaining access to premium entertainment and sports as streaming remains the preferred choice for modern audiences.
