In a night filled with glittering accolades and football royalty, Ademola Lookman stood tall as the star of the 2024 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco. The Nigeria and Atalanta forward was named CAF Men’s Player of the Year, cementing his place among Africa’s footballing greats.

Lookman’s win came after a phenomenal year where he dazzled in Serie A, becoming a linchpin for Atalanta with his flair, creativity, and knack for scoring decisive goals. His electric performances for Nigeria’s Super Eagles only added to his growing legend. Following Victor Osimhen’s victory in 2023, Lookman’s triumph marks the first time in nearly 30 years that Nigerian players have won the Men’s Player of the Year award in back-to-back years, a feat last achieved by Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba.

From his ability to weave through defenders to his clinical finishing in the box, Lookman has become a symbol of Nigeria’s footballing resurgence. His victory not only highlights his incredible journey but also underscores Nigeria’s rich history of producing world-class football talents.
