UCL Recap: Match Day 2

Yesterday’s Champions League action had a mix of close games, strong performances and unexpected outcomes. Here’s a recap of the matches across Europe.
Manchester City and Inter Milan battled to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad Stadium in a rematch of the 2023 final. City dominated possession and fired 22 shots compared to Inter’s 13, but only managed one more shot on target than the visitors. City’s Ilkay Gündogan missed two late headers that could have won the game, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan had Inter’s best chance but missed as well. Both teams settled for a point.
Meanwhile, PSG scraped a 1-0 win over Girona thanks to a late own goal by Girona’s keeper Paulo Gazzaniga, who mishandled a cross in stoppage time. PSG controlled the match with 26 attempts to Girona’s three but struggled to break down their defense until that late error.
Borussia Dortmund beat Club Brugge 3-0, with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scoring twice. Despite Brugge’s missed chances, Dortmund capitalized and punished the hosts.
Sparta Prague marked their return to the Champions League after 19 years with a dominant 3-0 win over RB Salzburg. Early and efficient scoring sealed the victory, including goals from Kaan Kairinen and Qazim Laçi.
Celtic thrashed Slovan Bratislava 5-1 at home, with goals from Liam Scales, Kyogo Furuhashi, and others ensuring a comfortable victory for the Scottish champions.
