Kylian Mbappe put on a masterclass at the Santiago Bernabeu, netting a hat-trick as Real Madrid knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League with a 3-1 win, sealing a 6-3 aggregate victory.

After a narrow 3-2 first-leg loss in Manchester, Pep Guardiola’s men arrived in Spain determined to turn the tie around. But Madrid, inspired by Mbappe, had other plans.

City’s hopes took an early hit when the French forward opened the scoring just four minutes in, calmly chipping the ball over Ederson to put Madrid ahead. His second came in the 33rd minute, finishing off a brilliant team move after a series of precise passes. He completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, leaving City’s defense in shambles and their European dreams in tatters.

Guardiola’s side, missing key players including Erling Haaland, struggled to find answers. Madrid, despite defensive concerns, looked confident throughout, with Antonio Rudiger returning to bolster their backline.

City managed a late consolation goal in added time when Nico Gonzalez slotted home a rebound from a free-kick, but it was too little, too late. Real Madrid march on, while City are left with lessons to learn from another tough night at the Bernabeu.

With the draw set for February 21, Madrid could face either Bayer Leverkusen or Atlético Madrid in the next round.
