Old Wizkid Tweets About a 14-Year-Old Fan Spark Backlash

Afrobeats star Wizkid is facing renewed scrutiny after a series of old tweets from 2010 resurfaced, showing him expressing attraction to a girl who turned out to be only 14 years old.

At the time, Wizkid was 19. In one of the posts, he wrote:

“Damn!!! … dis girl is to00000000000 cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! … bt she’s 14 … crying … she looks 19 … crying.”
In another, he added:
“Show was funnn!!!! … d cute 14 yr old babe was just screaming … plenty small girls just dey shout … lol … so girls like me? lol.”
A third tweet reportedly said: “Dis girl is too cute … I go bone age o … kai!!”

When the tweets resurfaced, Wizkid promptly deleted them. The swift removal has led to a wave of reactions online. Some argue he was young and didn’t understand the implications; others believe the comments reflect a problematic power dynamic.

The controversy also revived another old comment by Banky W, Wizkid’s former label boss, who cleverly referenced R. Kelly in a joke about the situation.  

So far, Wizkid has not made a formal public statement addressing the backlash.
