Nigerian music icon D’Banj has made a bold new declaration about his business empire. During a recent appearance on The Micon Podcast, the entertainer revealed that his talent-discovery platform, C.R.E.A.M., has reached a staggering $3 billion valuation, a claim that has quickly sparked conversations across the entertainment and tech industries.

Launched in 2016, C.R.E.A.M., short for Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts & Music, was built to give emerging creatives a fair shot at visibility, funding, and mentorship. What started as a simple upload-and-win system has now grown into a more structured ecosystem offering grants, digital distribution, and even *USSD access (463#) to make entry easier for young talents across Nigeria. The platform has also caught the attention of major institutions, with Afreximbank, through CANEX Creations, recently announcing an equity investment aimed at scaling the platform’s creative operations.

In the interview, D’Banj made it clear that he always saw himself beyond the limits of just music. He emphasized that true longevity comes from building platforms, not just achieving hits, and that C.R.E.A.M. is his most significant legacy play. This announcement isn’t the first time he has placed a massive value on the platform. In 2017, he stated it was worth $100 million, but the new $3 billion figure is by far the most ambitious.

Still, the valuation raises questions. No independent firm has publicly confirmed the $3 billion figure. Shortly after D’Banj’s $3 billion declaration went viral, Do2dtun subtly threw shade online, sharing a cryptic post that many fans quickly interpreted as a direct jab at the valuation claim. Though he didn’t mention D’Banj by name, his message, hinting that some figures in the industry tend to “inflate stories for hype,” was clear enough for the internet to connect the dots.

For now, the $3 billion claim stands as a mix of confidence and classic D’Banj showmanship, the kind that has defined his career for nearly two decades. Whether the numbers hold up or not, he is once again proving that he’s thinking far beyond the music.
