Crystal Palace achieved a historic milestone by winning their first-ever FA Cup in 119 years, defeating the heavily favored Manchester City 1-0 in the final on May 17, 2025. Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the match in the first half. The goal came from a smart team play, starting with Jean-Philippe Mateta holding the ball, passing it to Daichi Kamada, who found Daniel Munoz. Munoz crossed it perfectly for Eze to slot it into the net.

Despite scoring early, Palace had to endure constant pressure from City, who dominated possession. One key moment came when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson handled the ball outside the box while trying to stop Erling Haaland. City appealed for a red card, but VAR ruled that Haaland wasn’t in a clear goal-scoring position, so Henderson stayed on.

Later, City earned a penalty after Tyrick Mitchell’s tackle on Bernardo Silva. Although replays suggested Mitchell touched the ball first, the penalty stood. Omar Marmoush stepped up to take it, but Henderson made an incredible save, diving low to his right.

In the second half, Palace thought they had scored again when Ismaila Sarr bundled the ball into the net after a long throw by Chris Richards. However, VAR ruled Sarr offside, and the goal was disallowed.

City kept pushing hard for an equalizer, even bringing on young debutant Claudio Echeverri. But Henderson continued his outstanding performance, making several crucial saves. Palace’s defense stayed strong through ten tense minutes of added time, holding off City’s relentless attacks.

When the final whistle blew, it was a moment of pure joy for Crystal Palace. Under manager Oliver Glasner, the team defied all odds to claim their first major trophy. The victory was a proud and unforgettable moment for the players and fans, marking a new chapter in the club’s history.
