Airtel Africa Teams Up with SpaceX to Bring Starlink Mobile Connectivity

Airtel Africa is taking a major leap in connectivity across the continent. The telecom giant has signed a deal with SpaceX to roll out Starlink’s Direct-to-Cell satellite service across its 14 African markets, including Nigeria.
With this partnership, Airtel users on compatible smartphones will be able to connect straight to Starlink satellites, even in areas with little or no mobile network coverage. No cell towers, no signal stress.
The move is set to be a game-changer for remote and underserved communities, potentially extending reliable mobile access to Airtel Africa’s 174 million customers. In a region where coverage gaps still exist, this collaboration could redraw the map of how Africa stays connected.
