In the heart of Abuja’s Idu Industrial District, two young Nigerians, Maxwell Maduka and Nathan Nwachuku, are quietly running Africa’s largest drone factory. Their company, Terra Technology, started in 2023 and now rolls out up to 3,000 drones a year. Each one is fitted with their home-grown ArtemisOS, linking air and ground surveillance into a seamless security web.

Earlier this year, they pulled off what many thought impossible, beating an experienced Israeli consortium to win a $1.2 million contract to secure two hydropower plants. Their pitch? Smarter tech, built locally, at a fraction of the cost. It’s not just a win for Terra, it’s a win for African innovation, proving that world-class security solutions can take flight from the streets of Abuja.

From hangar floor to hydropower plants, these “boys with drones” are rewriting the script, showing the world that the sky is not the limit, just the beginning.
