Ex-Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello Pleads Not Guilty to Fraud Charges

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has pleaded not guilty to a 16-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
After a prolonged effort to apprehend the ex-governor, the EFCC finally arrested him on Tuesday, November 26. He was arraigned today before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.
The EFCC has accused Bello of misappropriating state funds for personal use, alleging that he acquired multiple properties using mismanaged resources. These properties include:
- No. 35 Danube Street, Maitama District, Abuja (valued at ₦950 million),
- No. 1160 Cadastral Zone C03, Gwarimpa II District, Abuja (valued at ₦100 million),
- No. 2 Justice Chukwudifu Oputa Street, Asokoro, Abuja (valued at ₦920 million), among others.
The case continues as the court deliberates on the charges and evidence presented.
