The NBA has suspended Joel Embiid of the 76ers for three games.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was suspended for three games without pay by the NBA on Tuesday for pushing a media member. The suspension will start when Embiid is next eligible to play in a regular-season game. He hasn’t played this season yet due to knee issues that the 76ers are managing. The Sixers are set to play the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night.
The incident occurred on Saturday when Embiid argued with and then shoved a newspaper columnist in the locker room.
“Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between players and media in the NBA,” said league executive Joe Dumars in a statement. “While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter’s column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical.”
Embiid was upset with a column by Philadelphia Inquirer writer Marcus Hayes, who criticized Embiid’s professionalism and fitness, and mentioned his late brother and son, both named Arthur.
