Nottingham Forest have turned to a familiar name in English football grit, Sean Dyche, as their new head coach after parting ways with Ange Postecoglou following a woeful start to the 2025/26 season.

The 54-year-old Englishman, who once laced up his boots as a Forest youth player, returns to the City Ground nearly four decades later, this time with the task of saving his old club from Premier League trouble. Dyche has signed a deal running until June 2027, with Forest hoping his no-nonsense approach can restore discipline and direction to a side that currently sits 18th after a bruising 3–0 defeat to Chelsea.

Dyche’s appointment makes him Forest’s third manager of the season, a stat that tells its own story. But if there’s anyone who thrives in chaos, it’s the man who kept Burnley punching above their weight for years and later dragged Everton clear of relegation scraps. His brand of football may not come with fireworks, but it gets results, and right now, that’s exactly what Forest need.

Speaking after the announcement, sources close to the club described Dyche as “hungry and ready to fight,” with the board confident his Premier League survival record is the missing ingredient to spark a turnaround.

And he won’t have to wait long to get started. Dyche’s first test comes in Europe, a Europa League showdown against Porto, where fans will be eager to see if his trademark passion can translate to continental nights under the floodlights.

Forest’s season might have started like a horror film, but with Dyche at the helm, they’ll be hoping for a gritty redemption arc, one filled with sweat, spirit, and maybe, just maybe, survival.
