Fulham Players and Staff Unite to Honour Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day

Fulham Football Club turned Motspur Park green and white on Wednesday as players, staff, and guests gathered to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day. The club shared pictures and video of a warm, colourful get-together at its training ground, organised around the Nigerian contingent who represent a visible link between Fulham and the country’s footballing talent.
Leading the festivities were Fulham’s Nigerian internationals, Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze, who were pictured at the event alongside staff and teammates. Chukwueze, on loan at Craven Cottage this season, joined the group for the celebrations, which combined informal team bonding with cultural tribute.
Photos and clips from the event show a lively atmosphere. Nigerian music set the tone, traditional outfits made an appearance, and players could be seen laughing, dancing, and posing with fans and staff. Other teammates, even those who aren’t Nigerian, also joined in, showing how cultural celebrations like this are now a normal part of life in today’s diverse football clubs.
