EPL Matchweek 6: A Weekend Full of Shocks and Showstoppers

This weekend served up the kind of Premier League drama that makes you double-check the scoreboard. Saturday started with Manchester United taking centre stage, and stumbling right out of it. Bryan Mbeumo’s first trip back to Brentford since swapping shirts for United was meant to be a statement, but the Bees had other ideas. They swarmed, they stung, and they walked away 3–1 winners, leaving Mbeumo’s “homecoming” looking more like a cautionary tale.
Chelsea wasn’t spared either. For a good chunk of the game against Brighton, the Blues looked in charge, moving the ball and keeping things calm. Then Trevoh Chalobah saw red, and the whole thing flipped. Brighton smelled blood and tore through what was left of Chelsea’s defence, cruising to a 3–1 victory that silenced Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool’s unbeaten run also hit its first speed bump. Crystal Palace stood tall and nicked a 2–1 win, handing the Reds their first loss of the season and reminding everyone Selhurst Park can be a nightmare on the right night.
Meanwhile, Arsenal proved once again they love a comeback story. Down early at Newcastle, they rallied with grit and quality to win 2–1 and keep their title chase sharp. And Manchester City? They barely broke a sweat while handing Burnley a 5–1 hammering, a performance that screamed business as usual.
Matchweek 6 had everything, returns gone wrong, red cards that flipped scripts, unbeaten runs snapped, and heavyweights flexing. City and Arsenal walked off as the clear winners, while United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are left wondering how it all went sideways so fast.
