Adobe Supercharges Firefly with AI from OpenAI and Google

Adobe is adding powerful new AI tools from OpenAI and Google to its Firefly app, and it’s bringing the app to mobile devices. Adobe, the company behind creative software like Photoshop and Premiere, has been building its own AI tools through Firefly since 2023. These tools help users create images and videos, and Adobe promises that anything made with Firefly is safe to use without legal worries.
Now, Adobe is giving users more options. Alongside its own AI, Firefly will also include image-generation tools from OpenAI (creator of ChatGPT), Google’s Imagen 3 and Veo 2, and a model called Flux 1.1 Pro. More third-party tools from companies like Fal.ai, Luma, and Runway will be added soon.
Adobe’s CTO, Ely Greenfield, said some users will still prefer Adobe’s own AI for safety reasons, especially when creating final products. But others want to try different AI tools during the idea stage, so Adobe is letting them choose.
Users will be able to create content using these different AI tools in Firefly, then easily move it into other Adobe apps like Photoshop. All of this will work with the same credit system Adobe already uses, although the company didn’t say how money will be split with the outside AI companies.
