From Romance to Restraining Orders: Halle Bailey Takes Legal Action Against DDG

Grammy-nominated singer and actress Halle Bailey has filed a police report and obtained a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, rapper and YouTuber DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.), citing multiple instances of physical and emotional abuse.

Bailey, best known for her starring role in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, alleges that the abuse began shortly after their split in October 2024. According to court documents obtained by AP News, the first major incident occurred in January 2025, when DDG allegedly assaulted her during a custody exchange, leaving her with a chipped tooth and visible bruising.

She further claims that DDG unlawfully entered her home in March, took a photo of her bed and sent it to her with a menacing message. In that same confrontation, he allegedly destroyed her Ring camera. Bailey also states that DDG weaponized his online platforms to stir harassment against her, leading to a flood of threats from fans and followers.

The court’s restraining order now prohibits DDG from contacting or coming within 100 yards of Bailey or their 17-month-old son, Halo. It also bars him from owning firearms and restricts him from posting or speaking publicly about her or their child. Bailey is seeking full custody of Halo while she travels for work in Italy, and has asked that DDG undergo a 52-week Batterer Intervention Program.

A formal hearing is scheduled for June 6, where the court will decide whether to extend the protective order for up to five years.
